About the Founder

The following is abridged from an article written about the founder of Parvisani:

The answer came to her lying in bed one night.  Before she fell asleep on a June night in 2005, Bonnie had sent a prayer, or intention as she calls it, into the universe.  She wanted to find her vocation and fulfill her desire to help humanity and the Earth.

The next morning she awoke with a new-found direction.  The answer was to create something akin to the peace sign and movement but that would also encompass the environment, social and political issues, and spirituality - a symbol and a movement about Healing.  As she doodled on a piece of paper, an image emerged:  the Parvisani symbol.

As a wife, mother, and high school French teacher, Bonnie has had limited time and money to develop and spread Parvisani. "It's taken me over three years to find the time and money to invest in this movement; to develop and operate a Web site, create and manufacture the symbol, attend events, etc."

Parvisani is spiritual but not religious. Although Bonnie was raised a strict Catholic, she does not belong to a particular church now. "Organized religion didn't work for me," she says. "It works for some people, but it can get out of control when dogma, fundamentalism or extremism takes over.  I can't understand people who say 'my religion is the one and only true religion,' because no one can know that.  It seems to me that all religions can possess pieces of the truth."

Her journey began in August 2001 when she attended a 10-day silent retreat. "It was a transformational experience," she says. "That is when I realized that I had to let go of much that I had learned growing up about connections with the Universe/the Creator/God." She acknowledges that it was upsetting and difficult to let go of the familiar and the entrenched and to accept new realizations.  Bonnie says that she believes there is an energy that one can tap into through meditation, deep prayer or being in nature. We can use that energy to bring forth positive change and healing.
